Practice vs Performance

March 30, 2012

‘Trying’ is a plan to fail. ‘Doing’ requires 100% commitment to succeed – no matter how many times you stumble.

When you try something new, it’s ok to have some safety and protection, and to expect to falter a bit. That is why we invented rehearsals. I learned to be purposeful in my rehearsals – using this time to work through my struggles and refine my selection of words or plays. This is the time to discover what will work and what will not work.

Once we get to the performance (game, sales presentation, or other); rehearsal is over and we need to commit 100% of our energy to making it a success.
